apologies for missing the french gp as i have been extremely busy with work. but what an exciting gp, with kimi winning a lucky race. a good ferrari 1-2 nonetheless, and now ferrari may well be back into championship contention.

it was an action-packed american gp, with plenty of teammate rivalries and decent overtaking moves. best of all, no safety car.

yup, there were mclaren fireworks alright, but it only lasted till the first/second corner. alonso attempted a do-or-die move on lewis, but failed miserably. not only did he lose the lead, he lost his position to heidfeld and he lost his car. a stop-go penalty didn't help either.

this wonderful ad by shell is called "circuit". after more than 60 years of cooperation with ferarri, the ad shows the evolution of the ferrari racing car, zooming through the streets of rome, new york, hongkong, brazil, and monte carlo. fantastic!

shanghai f1 circuit chief was sacked in midst of a corruption investigation. mr yu zhifei was accused of using company money to buy a house and taking bribes. 

The sackings were related to an inquiry into misuse of Shanghai's pension fund.

that's impressive. more so for massa, who has been on pole for three consecutive times. i have to admit, it was rather fulfilling to see massa spoil the spanish party. if you paid attention, you could actually hear the sound of a few hundred thousand heartbreaks when massa stormed through the line.

yeah yeah, we all know massa grabbed pole yesterday at bahrain. personally, i wasn't very surprised by it. lewis hamilton was second, followed by kimi and alonso. kimi and alonso could be on a heavier fuel strategy. well, we'll see who of the four will come out top on race day.

first off, wasn't i right to say the first corner will determine everything? alonso passing massa and hamilton passing both kimi and massa before the first corner sealed the race for mclaren. although the ferrari was a quicker car in the first stint, they were not able to overtake the stunning mclaren.

The World Motorsport Council met yesterday and the FIA today announced the decisions that were made with regard to the sporting and technical regulations for next season.

what an action-packed qualifying! the new knockout qualifying proved to be quite an excitement. the reason may well be because it was the first one ever, so obviously there were some confusing and chaotic moments.

so how important is a paint job?



the details of the car are more obvious with this single tone paint. it's nice to have a closer look at the curves and shapes of the mclaren, where it has always been hard to see with the black and silver paint.

michael cut short his holiday and came back to testing this week. he said he didn't deserve the holiday, since last year they didn't achieve anything (one win and one pole weren't exactly ideal). his return made quite an impression.

yesterday michelin announced its withdrawal from formula 1 at the end of the 2006 season. although the single tyre supplier rule is to come into effect starting 2008, michelin has decided to depart one year earlier. this is definitely a sad news for competition in formula 1 as a whole.

so what was wrong with the 2005 season? i have read comments from people that say 2005 season was one of the best seasons in the past years. however, i totally disagree and in fact, 2005 has been the worst season of the new millenium.

toyota f1 team surprised everyone with a sudden launching of their 2006 car today. take a look at the picture:



according to mike gascoyne, the car started developing at the end of year 2004. but how is that possible? they don't even know the rules for 2006 yet. i am not sure why they started that early. shouldn't they look at their 2005 car and improve on that? i'm baffled.

most improved team: red bull

after the eventful japanese gp, wasn't shanghai gp just a bloody anti-climatic race? it did tell us who won the constructor, and that was about it.

so this is it! we've finally reached the last race of the 2005 season.

the infamous wall welcomes the racers and fans alike to the canadian gp 2005. the race at montreal has long been regarded as one the best races on the calendar. it's a fast track that is also hard on the brakes. plus the scenary is just beautiful.
